From relief to development

 

 

In 2003 Sumbangsih Nuansa Madura was formed in response to the need to address the problems of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in a more holistic, long-term fashion.

 

In 2004, an office was rented in the regency capital of Bangkalan. 

 

We immediately realised that emergency relief is significantly different from long-term community empowerment.  With this in mind, we joined with Yayasan Perisai Biru and set our sights on empowering, not only IDPs, but also disadvantaged local residents in order that they might make a better life for themselves.
